Henna is a plant extract used to create temporary tattoos. It has its origins in India and the Middle East. Henna is typically
applied to form intricate patterns on the skin for celebrations such as weddings.
These temporary tattoos usually last 5 to 10 days, although exactly how long they last depends on many factors including
the area of the body the henna is applied to, how long it is left on for, the henna itself and how much the area is washed.
Most of these tattoos have just been applied, so the henna is thick and wet and dark. I've mainly used shots of these
because the designs photograph more clearly. After about 30 minutes the henna will harden and then will rub off leaving a nice orangey / light brown temporary tattoo on your skin, like on that fellow in the stripy t-shirt (above left).
Henna tattoos can be just for fun, or I can offer a bespoke service for special occasions like weddings, handfastings, anniversaries, birthdays
and parties. Please contact me by e-mail at gwen@gwendavies.com, or give me ring on +44 (0) 2920 452 120 / +44 (0) 775 114 0040.
I am also experienced in giving talks on henna and running henna workshops. I can cover the historical and cultural background of henna
as well as offering practical advice and tips on how to mix and apply henna and how to begin creating your own designs.
For bookings, workshops or parties, or if you have any questions about henna, please e-mail me at gwen@gwendavies.com
or telephone me on +44 (0) 2920 452 120 / +44 (0) 775 114 0040.
